SUMMARY:Neu Berlin Institute of Improvised Music vol. 10
DESCRIPTION:10th session of ‘Neu Berlin Institute of Improvised Music’:At the celebrated Petersburg Artspace The I n s t i t u t e is hosting a new improvisational session. We welcome you! \n\n\n\nIn this case the opening group will be: \n\n\n\nUtku Tavil: drumsChris Pitsiokos: alto saxophoneSanja Star: live visualsMichiyasu Furutani: movement \n\n\n\nAfter the opening group there will be put together sessions by the curator. \n\n\n\nDoors 19hConcert starts 19h30. \n\n\n\nMission:By bringing together different practices of improvisation\, we strive to open up the often isolated situation of music scenes to each other and prevent a structural conservatism that exists in the field of improvisation. We focus on connecting and learning from all different genres and subsidiaries. Encouraging people from different musical backgrounds and contexts to interact with each other and create a curated framework for immediate composition in a live setting. Because we believe that improvisation can mean lifelong musical learning\, we want to view its ongoing practice and performance as an opportunity for the development of one’s “voice” and to create a regular offering for musicians* to keep trying themselves out in this laboratory and working community. We hope that in this way we can contribute to spreading this common respect for each other and the different approaches to improvisation in all of our respective “scenes” and enable fresh perspectives. The idea is not new\, of course\, but we want to perceive it anew. In our case we take the name away from an institution that was founded in Vienna in 2005 under the name ‘The Neu New York/Vienna Institute of Improvised Music’ by the now deceased saxophonist Marco Eneidi and still exists as ‘Monday Improvisers Session’ in Vienna.A warm invitation to you\, if you feel addressed\, and if you want to join this process as a listener!–MIIMKGraphic Design by Daphné Lejeune / https://lejeunedaphne.com/

SUMMARY:Jem Bosatta with special guests: Ruhmer\, Valmara\, Fran Hoch
DESCRIPTION:Jem Bosattawith special guestsRuhmerValmaraFran Hoch \n\n\n\nDoors at 8pmDonations on the door \n\n\n\nBio on Jem:Jem Bosatta doesn’t do background. He’s the kind of performer for whom you stop in your tracks\, put down whatever you’re holding\, and just listen. The raw power of his stage presence has been captured in his debut EP\, Loss & Love: a collection of six sparsely decorated songs as simple as they are beautiful. \n\n\n\nJem grew up among the hills and hymns of southern England\, making the switch to Berlin in 2018. In various projects and guises\, he has seen stages from Milan to Cologne to New York. But the bulk of his activity and collaboration takes place in his adoptive city\, where he has established himself as “one to watch” in the budding Berlin folk scene. His stripped-back style and knack for storytelling belie his rustic roots\, recalling Cat Stevens\, Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake.1m

SUMMARY:MAKE YOUR ARDUINO SCREAM WITH MOZZI AND CHATGPT
DESCRIPTION:MAKE YOUR ARDUINO SCREAM  \n\n\n\nWITH MOZZI AND CHATGPT \n\n\n\n__Mozzi is the most advanced sound library for generating sounds with arduino\, one of the easiest microcontroller boards to learn. There are a variety of projects on the web for creating sound generators or controllers for software or for designing works with electromechanical movements of objects or lights. In this workshop you are invited to create a musical instrument that can be an extension of your body or something you can wear and interact with. Each participant is invited to create his or her own design from scratch\, choosing which sensors to add\, from potentiometers to buttons to flexible or capacitive or self-made sensors. \n\n\n\n After designing the hardware with the help of chatGPT\, we will design the software\, merging\, copy/paste and coding\, so no prior coding skills are required. This is the first in a series of workshops called Audio DIY Lab\, a series dedicated to creating your own electronic and electroacoustic instruments and developing your own sound self-expression. These one- or two-day evening workshops are open to everyone\, regardless of previous experience in electronic design\, programming or soldering. For a sliding-scale participation fee of 25-35 euros\, plus the cost of materials tailored to your chosen project\, you will have the opportunity to build your own instrument from both a hardware and software perspective. Participants do not need to worry about tools cause all basic ones will be provided by PAS. However\, we encourage participants to bring their own tools or implements\, or previous or ongoing projects. For example\, if someone is working with textiles we encourage them to bring all the tools they need so that by the end of the workshop each participant will have created a unique instrument . The primary goal of these workshops is to create a community of DIYers interested in unconventional electronic and electroacoustic instruments. We want to challenge the mass production of standardized instruments that lack the flexibility to be modified or hacked. By taking a critical approach to the technological domain\, we encourage a do-it-yourself ethic and a critical examination of technological hegemony. The workshop is open to all and priority will be given to LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC people. To ensure accessibility\, PAS will cover part of the costs\, while participants will contribute according to the daily living standards of Berlin artists/musicians. \n\n\n\nfee_ 40eu (30 for internal member of PAS)date_ 27.2  from 17 to 24deadline_ 25.2 no. participants_ 10venue_ PAS  \n\n\n\nYou will be provided with the basic materials to build your own instruments\, starting with components such as a potentiometer\, button or piezo. The participation fee does not include the cost of an Arduino board\, we invite people to bring an unused one from a friend instead of buying one\, or to buy a second-hand one\, no matter what model it is it could be model: nano\, one r2 or r3\, mega\, leonardo\, micro. By contacting this email giorgio.alloatti@gmail.com you can ask to buy an arduino for 15eu more or receive the contact where to buy it. Feel free to write for any additional information and subscription. \n\n\n\nMaterials provided with the fee:   breadboard for prototyping\, cables\, switch\,  potentiometer or photoresistor\, audio connector\,  piezo or button.Materials provided by PAS Berlin:venue for the workshop\, soldering iron for all participants\, soldering wire\, cutters\, pliers\, drill\, documentation \n\n\n\nMaterials provided by participants:laptop (preferably with last arduino IDE installed)\, headphones or small speakers\, a small box or enclosure\, any specialist materials for very specific projects The workshop is led by MOO17 aka Giorgio Alloatti (@agaramof_m_oo) maker\, noiser and sound artist\, member of PAS and founder of Audiohacklab. \n\n\n\nPAS Berlin is in Moabit\, Berlin – Kaiserin Augusta Allee 101 – Aufgang 2 you can reach the venue with M10/U9 Turmstr – U7 Mierendorffplatz  \n\n\n\n  Ⓐ⓸

DESCRIPTION:22 Feb 2024 7pm doors and 7:30pm show at Petersburg Art Space \n\n\n\nA night of butoh performances by visiting artists Maruska Ronchi (Italy) & Anna Orkolainen (Finland/Saxony) & Min Yoon (Berlin)with an improvisation with Wieland Möller (Percussions/Berlin) \n\n\n\nending with an open improvisation set for allwith donations at the door \n\n\n\n~~~ \n\n\n\nLes Sylphides | Butoh ritual performance by Anna Orkolainenwww.annaorkolainen.de \n\n\n\nSylphids are air fairies\, spirits of dead women. The legend says that they come back to appear in the dreams of men who betrayed them. Men who created wars\, spreaded lies\, stoled lands\, raped\, killed and put in chains.During 19th century\, many men wrote ballets piéces inspired by these supernatural creatures\, where unequivocably beautiful women were dancing in pure\, graceful\, white dresses. All for the eyes of greedy\, plased men.But\, maybe\, Sylphids are not pure\, neither graceful or beautiful. And they do not want to please the men.Music from Frédéric Chopin\, processed by Gerardo Vitale.dancing-being-in-time by Min Yoondancetotheedge.com | vimeo.com/dancetotheedge | instagram.com/dancetotheedge with the body as an archive of pain\, repetition\, change over timein a structured improvisation of butoh dance+ and vocals \n\n\n\nWHISPER OF SILENCE by Maruska Ronchimaruskaronchi.com | instagram.com/butoh_maru \n\n\n\nThere is a place of deep and quiet heed \n\n\n\nA sanctuary for images to appear \n\n\n\nIn stillness\, secrets are conveyed \n\n\n\nSilence speaks with a gentle explosion \n\n\n\nTrio improvisation with Wieland Möller (percussions)\, Min Yoon (dance)\, and visiting artist\, Maruska Ronchi (dance) and Anna Orkolainen \n\n\n\nWe will end the night with an improvisation set open for everyone\, seeded by butoh dance. SUMMARY:Fukstep
DESCRIPTION:First episode of Fukstep\, a movement created by Fukinsei for all the bad sprouts of the ground. \n\n\n\nOpening with Fukinsei. presents Innesta (prod. By Reyetto Tapes)\, a performance of radical Mediterranean experimentation with incursions of the Marranzano and ethnomusicological research into the sounds of her Sicilian roots. \n\n\n\nThis is followed by Haimzu’s live performance\, which explores the relationship between stability and instability\, control and improvisation\, unfolding along soothing grooves\, off-grid bass hits\, lush atmospheres\, as well as breakbeat-inspired acoustic signatures and organic\, hyper-synthesised rhythmic textures. \n\n\n\nClosing the evening\, Akíi’s innovative sound seamlessly blends experimental\, digital\, bass and deconstruction4d\, inviting listeners on a genre-bending journey into another dimension through their unique and dynamic sets. \n\n\n\nInfo: \n\n\n\nLink RA https://ra.co/events/1861785Event starts 8pm\, so don’t be late!Entry 8-10 euro

SUMMARY:Neu Berlin Institute of Improvised Music Vol. 9
DESCRIPTION:9th session of ‘Neu Berlin Institute of Improvised Music’:At the celebrated Petersburg Artspace The I n s t i t u t e is hosting a new improvisational session. We welcome you! \n\n\n\nIn this case the opening group will be: \n\n\n\nMarina Cyrino: flute\, objectsIsabel Anders: pianoNick Dunston: double bassFelix Wahnschaffe: alto saxophone \n\n\n\nAfter the opening group there will be put together sessions by the curator. \n\n\n\nDoors 20hConcert starts 20h30.
