SUMMARY:DANCE at PASAn evening of movement and sound by Anna Barth + Thomas von Arx / Nicola Bullock / Jessica Gaynor + Quentin Tolimieri + Eric Wong
DESCRIPTION:DANCE at PAS An evening of movement and sound by Anna Barth + Thomas von Arx / Nicola Bullock / Jessica Gaynor + Quentin Tolimieri + Eric Wong 26th January 2025 Doors open at 19:30 performances start at 20:00 Entrance in the courtyard\, Aufgang II\, 1 OG . . . . . . . Space_Time ::: Dance Concrete _ At the intersection of Improvisation + Butoh  Dance – Anna Barth Sound_Scape – Thomas von Arx\, div. sound material Anna Barth is a freelance dancer and artistic director of the TanzArt Labor Berlin. At the intersection of Improvisation and Butoh Anna explores the existential realities and possibilities inscribed in the body and its memory. Thomas von Arx is a visual artist\, craftsman and long-term collaborator / co-creator of the dance work of Anna Barth as performance_stage and sound_artist. Whiplash Ballad Choreography and Performance – Nicola Bullock A sensory meditation on loss and recovery\, this piece traces the visceral experience of grief\, where cataclysm collides with fleeting moments of surrender. Through shifting intensities\, it explores how grief shapes the body and movement as the earth beneath us quakes. Movement + Sound Dance – Jessica Gaynor Melodica/Electronics – Quentin Tolimieri Guitar/Electronics – Eric Wong Movement + Sound is an improvised dance and music collective. Focused on extreme reductionism of material and form\, the dance and music coexist without direct correlation between each other\, allowing for a space that is open ended to allow for unexpected relationships and synchronicities to arise between the dancer and musicians throughout the course of a performance. *Cover photo credit: Anna Barth\, Videostill by Thomas Roth

SUMMARY:Neu Berlin Institute of Improvised Music vol. 15
DESCRIPTION:15th session of ‘Neu Berlin Institute of Improvised Music’:At the celebrated Petersburg Artspace The I n s t i t u t e is hosting a new improvisational session. We welcome you!In this case the opening group will be: \n\n\n\nFlorian Fischer – drumsJonas Gerigk – double bassJD Zazie – turntables\, electronicsSofìa Salvo – bariton sax \n\n\n\nAfter the opening group there will be put together sessions by the curator.Doors 19h30Concert starts 20h \n\n\n\nMission:By bringing together different practices of improvisation\, we strive to open up the often isolated situation of music scenes to each other and prevent a structural conservatism that exists in the field of improvisation. We focus on connecting and learning from all different genres and subsidiaries. Encouraging people from different musical backgrounds and contexts to interact with each other and create a curated framework for immediate composition in a live setting. Because we believe that improvisation can mean lifelong musical learning\, we want to view its ongoing practice and performance as an opportunity for the development of one’s “voice” and to create a regular offering for musicians* to keep trying themselves out in this laboratory and working community. We hope that in this way we can contribute to spreading this common respect for each other and the different approaches to improvisation in all of our respective “scenes” and enable fresh perspectives. The idea is not new\, of course\, but we want to perceive it anew. In our case we take the name away from an institution that was founded in Vienna in 2005 under the name ‘The Neu New York/Vienna Institute of Improvised Music’ by the now deceased saxophonist Marco Eneidi and still exists as ‘Monday Improvisers Session’ in Vienna.A warm invitation to you\, if you feel addressed\, and if you want to join this process as a listener!–MIIMKGraphic Design by Daphné Lejeune / https://lejeunedaphne.com/
