SUMMARY:DANCE at PAS
DESCRIPTION:DANCE at PASAn evening of movement and sound by Siri Salminen + Eric Wong / Carla Braux / Andrew Wass + Simon Rose14th December 2025Doors open at 19:30 performances start at 20:00Entrance in the courtyard\, Aufgang II\, 1 OG. . . . . . . \n\n\n\nSALMINEN + WONGSiri Salminen – danceEric Wong – electronicsIn their collaborative work\, Siri Salminen and Eric Wong explore the dynamic interplay between body movement and sound\, examining the temporal and spatial relationships that arise between them. As the body moves intermittently\, it both holds and releases its movements\, leaving behind traces that are continually formed and discarded. Meanwhile\, a series of portable speakers project spatialized sound\, shifting between rhythmic patterns and varying tonal qualities. By alternately introducing regular and irregular rhythms\, and altering both sonic and physical gestures\, they aim to evoke a constant flux of dynamics and a shifting perception of time for the audience. \n\n\n\nBRAUXNo flesh allowedChoreography and interpretation by Carla BrauxEventually I would realize\, that I’d never be skinny enough to hide behind myself. \n\n\n\nWASS ROSEIn With and ThroughAndrew Wass – danceSimon Rose – baritone saxophoneAndrew Wass (dance) Simon Rose (music) will perform through interdisciplinary embodiment\, the ‘exchange of attention’\, somatic music\, essential difference and by responding to the given space\, With a shared research interest in improvisation WASS ROSE have collaborated since 2013. Selected performances include Gropius Bau\, Berlin (2025)\, Sound Dance Festival\, Berlin (2018)\, University of Arts\, Graz residency (2023)\, GTF (German dance research)\, Hamburg (2018) as well as clubs\, dance spaces\, and galleries in Berlin.Their work has been the subject of two book chapters (Routledge 2024\, Transcript 2016). \n\n\n\nCover Photo: Carla Braux\, Photo Credit: David Harmsen

SUMMARY:Neu Berlin Institute of Improvised Music vol. 35
DESCRIPTION:35th session of ‘Neu Berlin Institute of Improvised Music’:At the celebrated Petersburg Artspace The I n s t i t u t e is hosting a new improvisational session. We welcome you! \n\n\n\nIn this case the opening group will be:TBA \n\n\n\n///After the opening group there will be put together sessions by the curator.Doors 19h30Concert starts 20h/// \n\n\n\nMission:By bringing together different practices of improvisation\, we strive to open up the often isolated situation of music scenes to each other and prevent a structural conservatism that exists in the field of improvisation. We focus on connecting and learning from all different genres and subsidiaries. Encouraging people from different musical backgrounds and contexts to interact with each other and create a curated framework for immediate composition in a live setting. Because we believe that improvisation can mean lifelong musical learning\, we want to view its ongoing practice and performance as an opportunity for the development of one’s “voice” and to create a regular offering for musicians* to keep trying themselves out in this laboratory and working community. We hope that in this way we can contribute to spreading this common respect for each other and the different approaches to improvisation in all of our respective “scenes” and enable fresh perspectives. The idea is not new\, of course\, but we want to perceive it anew. In our case we take the name away from an institution that was founded in Vienna 2005 under the name ‘The Neu New York/Vienna Institute of Music’ by the now deceased saxophonist Marco Eneidi and still exists as ‘Monday Improvisers Session’ in Vienna.A warm invitation to you\, if you feel addressed\, and if you want to join this process as a listener!–MIIMKDGraphic Design by Daphné Lejeune / https://lejeunedaphne.com/

The duo’s songs probe loneliness\, trauma\, delusion\, and love with an auteurist vision and brutal sense of humor; their fierce and darkly comic live sets combine off-kilter electronics\, bizarre narratives\, seedy saxophone and squealing slide guitar. Formed in New Orleans in 2014\, they’ve released albums with Tymbal Tapes\, Baba Vanga\, Ever/Never\, and Strategic Tape Reserve.https://press.budokanboys.club/

SUMMARY:DANCE at PAS
DESCRIPTION:DANCE at PASAn evening of movement and sound by Caroline Marcantoni / Jessica Gaynor + Quentin Tolimieri / Marco Nektan + Stephen Flinn31st August 2025Doors open at 19:30 performances start at 20:00Entrance in the courtyard\, Aufgang II\, 1 OG. . . . . . . \n\n\n\nDaphinaChoreography\, performance\, and composition: Caroline MarcantoniCaroline Marcantoni makes sound and performance work and currently resides in Berlin\, Germany. Her work often involves elements of structure and improvisation. The composition for Daphina is made in the style of Musique Concrète.Website: https://carolinewebsite.wixsite.com/carolinecaro…/caroline \n\n\n\nMovement + SoundDance: Jessica GaynorMusic: Quentin TolimieriFocused on extreme reductionism of material and form\, the dance and music coexist without direct correlation between each other\, allowing for a space that is open ended to allow for unexpected relationships and synchronicities to arise between the dancer and musician throughout the course of a performance. \n\n\n\nBarbeloChoreography and performance: Marco NektanMusic and performance: Stephen FlinnIn the beginning\, before light touched form\, she was the Womb of Thought — Barbelo\, the first emanation of the ineffable source. Through the slow birth of movement\, she becomes both mirror and mother\, weaving creation from the silence that birthed her. \n\n\n\nMarco Nektan is a performance artist and Butoh dancer whose work delves into the depths of the human subconscious\, merging elements of dance\, theatre\, and conceptual art. His artistic practice is heavily influenced by Butoh\, a form of Japanese dance theatre known for its exploration of primal emotions and the unconscious. Nektan’s performances often evoke a shamanistic quality\, where he acts as a conduit for collective memories and archetypes\, bringing forth a raw\, transformative experience for the audience. Marco has been preforming for 20 years and has created over 500 original performances and choreographies.Stephen Flinn is an active composer\, performer\, and improviser living in Berlin\, Germany. He performs throughout Europe\, Japan\, and the United States in contexts ranging from solo to large groups\, supporting Butoh dancers\, and various ongoing projects. He has spent decades experimenting with traditional percussion to create distinct sounds and phonic textures\, and to finding new extended techniques for expressing himself in diverse musical settings. \n\n\n\n*Cover photo credit: Caroline Marcantoni

The performers embody hens as mythical\, haunted creatures caught between absurdity and poetic rebellion. \n\n\n\nLayered with clumsy grace\, bird-like twitching\, and ritualistic gestures\, the performance weaves a fragile world where femininity\, hysteria\, and humor coexist. \n\n\n\nThrough repetition and fragmentation\, the hens become carriers of something both sacred and ridiculous — a flock that remembers something we tried to forget. \n\n\n\nDuration of the performance: 15min \n\n\n\nentrance in the courtyard\, Aufgang II\, 1OGDoors 19:30\, start 20:30
