We focus on connecting and learning from all different genres and subsidiaries. Encouraging people from different musical backgrounds and contexts to interact with each other and create a curated framework for immediate composition in a live setting. Because we believe that improvisation can mean lifelong musical learning\, we want to view its ongoing practice and performance as an opportunity for the development of one’s “voice” and to create a regular offering for musicians* to keep trying themselves out in this laboratory and working community. We hope that in this way we can contribute to spreading this common respect for each other and the different approaches to improvisation in all of our respective “scenes” and enable fresh perspectives. The idea is not new\, of course\, but we want to perceive it anew. We focus on connecting and learning from all different genres and subsidiaries. Encouraging people from different musical backgrounds and contexts to interact with each other and create a curated framework for immediate composition in a live setting. Because we believe that improvisation can mean lifelong musical learning\, we want to view its ongoing practice and performance as an opportunity for the development of one’s “voice” and to create a regular offering for musicians* to keep trying themselves out in this laboratory and working community. We hope that in this way we can contribute to spreading this common respect for each other and the different approaches to improvisation in all of our respective “scenes” and enable fresh perspectives. The idea is not new\, of course\, but we want to perceive it anew. At the core of SoulJam is a Houseband\, made up of musicians from around the world performing music that is fully improvised in the funk\, hip-hop\, soul and house directions\, but a pillar of SoulJam is to give a platform to diverse artists both in our local Berlin scene\, and from around the world. \n\n\n\nDevansh is a multi-instrumentalist\, producer\, and vocalist based in London by way of Brooklyn and Singapore. He writes modern groove music that blends together elements of psychedelic soul\, funk\, indie pop\, and world music. \n\n\n\nSkyline Sun\, originally from Australia and currently based in Berlin\, is a nu-jazz project that brings a refreshing and groove-focused perspective to jazz and improvised music. Mío Ma\, a multidisciplinary artist from Barcelona\, continues to blend and experiment\, fusing various genres and art forms. \n\n\n\nAfter releasing their debut EP\, “HIBERNATION\,” Skyline Sun and Mío Ma are unveiling their latest single titled “Take Me Back.” Having collaborated for four years\, they have been involved in creating and experimenting with music through improvisation and production.
